Community in the Crossfire:

"Seeking Civil Dialogue in Uncivil Times"

A series of five panel discussions were organized in partnership with Lower Columbia College by a group of concerned citizens in response to the increasingly partisan and polarizing political discourse. Five forum discussions were held starting in August through October.  All of the forums were recorded and can be found in the links below.  Please check back after the first of the year to see proposed topics and forums for 2023.

This series of lectures are not connected to our "Seeking Civil Dialogue in Uncivil Times" project, but many of the presenters were integral in planning the forums. All lectures are open to the public, LCC students, faculty & staff. 

Books That Move Us

All lectures are located in LCC Health and Science Building, Laufman Lecture Hall HSB 101
Thursdays, 11:30am-12:20pm AND available online through Zoom. 

  • March 9th, 2023: “How books transform us” - Presenter: Alan Rose

    • In the personal odysseys that are our lives, books can serve as signposts, reflecting the people we once were, who we are now, and who we may yet become.
